Location

Othona Bradwell is located in a beautiful coastal area of Essex, right on the estuary of the River Blackwater, away from any conurbations and main arteries. Unless you are hiking or cycling (in which case you’ll be equipped with map and compass), you’ll be coming by road or rail. Please take a look at the map below and then follow the directions underneath.

By Road

First-time visitors should consult a map ! However, here are directions from the A12, which joins the M25 junction 28. From leaving the A12 to arriving at Othona is 25 miles of country roads & takes around 1 hour:

From A12 junction 18 (signed Chelmsford Park & Ride) take the A414 towards Maldon. Follow the A414 through Danbury until you reach a roundabout with Latchingdon signed straight ahead. Continue past New Hall vineyard to Latchingdon (B1010, later B1018) and, at the end of this village, take the first exit at a mini-roundabout, which is signed for Bradwell-on-Sea and Eastland Meadows Caravan Park. The road twists for 10 miles passing Mayland, Steeple and St Lawrence. After entering Bradwell-on-Sea, join the B1021 from Southminster and Tillingham and, almost immediately, turn right at the AMP Waterside garage, signed Bradwell Village (if you fail to do this, you will end up at the marina at Bradwell Waterside!). At St Thomas church in the centre of Bradwell Village, turn right into East End Road and continue for about 1.5 miles, passing The Cricketers pub and Eastland Meadows Caravan Park. Turn left into East Hall Farm, which has a blue plough and a pond at the front. Turn right, round the back of the farmhouse, and continue to the end of the rough track where you will find the Community car park.  Plenty of parking is available for vehicles.

By Public Transport

Southminster Station is 10 miles from Othona (departs from London Liverpool St Station, www.nationalrail.com). A bus connects the station and the King's Head pub in Bradwell - it is a vital service for the local community so use it! Call the Bus Company on 0871 200 2233 to find out the times of buses that connect with trains. We can collect you from the Kings' Head. Please don't just arrive by train and then phone us for a lift - you may face a long walk!
