stewardship of the environment

Under construction

This section of our website will be packed full of information about our stewardship of the environment. We will include some of our current projects as well as our plans. We already have a wind turbine that supplies most of our electricity needs (we are off-grid). We have solar water heating system. Our poly-tunnel is irrigated from recycled rain water and our waste water is treated via a reed bed system. Each year we spend time improving the local environment by creating new habitats and renewing old ones. We are currently constructing a solar building, this has been designed by ZED Factory to be carbon neutral i.e. not require any external source of energy to run the building. It has been made possible by a grant from the East of England Development Agency 'Cut Your Carbon' grant as well as generous donations from members of the Community. The walls of the building will be rammed earth and straw bale, this part of the project will be self build and we will need volunteers in the spring of 2010
