Othona is a Christian community, welcoming people of all faiths & none & offering varied residential community & retreat opportunities to individuals, families & groups.
Looking for a challenge, a career-break or just a different way of life? The Othona Community might be able to offer you just the answer. Othona Bradwell (we have a sister Centre in Dorset) is, above all, a place of welcome to all kinds of people with all kinds of requirements and needs. Othona Bradwell is a place of simple living in tune with the environment. We have solar and wind turbine energy systems and are currently building a “green” accommodation block using natural and recycled materials including a timber frame, straw bale and rammed earth walls and a turf roof.
We are seeking a long-term staff member (6 – 12 months initially) from April 2010 to be appointed to the key role of Community Cook Co-ordinator in our small team of dedicated core staff who manage, operate and run this very special centre located in the middle of farm land right on the Essex coast
You will have experience in cooking / catering and be able to plan, manage and deliver meals for up to 60 people (job description and person specification attached). In addition, you will be part of the management team and will help the resident Warden in the overall management, organisation and running of the Community on a day to day basis. The ability to work as part of a team, to live in harmony with other core staff, to relate to and easily interact with our visitors and to have a positive, “can do” attitude are essential.
What we offer in return
- Simple accommodation in our staff house, with all meals included.
- A modest weekly payment to support you in this Intentional Community life.
- Flexible hours with 2 days off per week
